Dolly updates
Here are some new photos of what I have been working on this past year. Should have posted more often, but too much went on around here.
The first pictures are some outfits I made for my Crissys and Velvet. The first one is a three-piece outfit consisting of denim vest and pants with a red/white/blue striped top. Crissy loves her new 70's style denim outfit that has the newest flared legs on the jeans. The second one has Crissy and Velvet showing off their new spring dresses. Velvet's is a bright yellow and orange polka-dot dress, very 70's. Crissy's is a bright orange, empire style dress with eyelet trim. They just love to show off their new clothes. Next, Crissy gets ready for a slumber party with her new nightgown and robe set. The nightie is a pretty yellow rosebud print with a pale yellow robe.
The last picture features my beautiful 19" Valentine ballerina getting ready for a show. When I first found her at a local second hand shop, she was dirty and poorly dressed. All she wanted was to be pretty again. And that she is following a spa treatment and a new ballet costume. White satin and tulle make up the tutu with a pale pink ribbon at the waist. In her hair, she has a ring of roses to complete the look. Her ballet slippers (you can't see them in the picture) were made by me using a pair of old leather gloves.
Creating new outfits for dolls is something I enjoy doing. If I could, I would do it all day long every day. I love to dress all types of dolls, but especially vintage ones. Hope you enjoy looking at what I have been up to.

The dress in the top picture is modeled by my Revlon-lookalike and went to a lady out of state. It is a lovely yellow plaid cotton and she carries a tote to put her purchases in after a day of shopping.
The wedding dress in the second picture was made from a vintage Advance pattern. My vintage bubblecut Barbie is wearing the dress waiting to walk down the aisle to marry Ken at long last. Made from a white satin, it features a fitted bodice, puffed sleeves and a very full skirt.
The last picture is the same doll wearing a spring dress of yellow floral cotton. Tiny seed beads are used for "buttons" on the dress front. The style is the same as the famous "Pak dresses" from the sixties.
Making vintage recreations is something that I enjoy. Maybe it's because it takes me back to my long ago childhood and the wishes for the wonderful fashions that Barbie and other dolls of the era had then.

Making dolly new again pt 4
Here she is all finished! Finished her on Saturday evening. The purple dress really shows up her green eyes. What a lovely doll she turned out to be. Really had fun fixing her up. Little Miss told me she really felt pretty again and can't wait for her new mommy to see her in her new dress. She goes home this afternoon. I know her new mommy is going to be glad to see her.
